Bio
DJ Rickey Ricardo aka Ricardo Plummer is a music producer/ audio engineer/DJ, actor, model, artist originally from Queens, Nyc. His story started at the very tender young age of 9yrs old when he discovered that his Jamaican carribean parents ,family & friends were invovled in the Jamaican DJ sounds-system culture and dancehall/reggae scene. His grandndfather Lloyd was a DJ and a sound-system owner it was called “LP Disco” He used to buy allot of records and build speaker boxes for peoples soundsystem. He used to DJ out all over Nyc and keep basement parties with his best friend Jiggy another soundsystem owner and DJ. They were good friends with big reggae stars like Gill bailey from the “Gill Bailey Radio Reggae Show” in Nyc plus many more, Ricardo also had an uncle another a sound-system owner/DJ who owened Spec-One Hi-Fi who would teach him about synthesizers, mixers and the DJ equipment used in dancehall sound-system culture. Ricardo as a young child witnessing all the good things happening around him inspired to be like them . At first it started with trading and collecting and fixing records tapes & CDs he used to get from his uncles parents and family friends, it was hip-hop but mostly dancehall and reggae. Some of his first reggae favorite artists were Super Cat, Sugar Minott , Tenor Saw, Bob Marley, Gregory Issacs , Frankie Paul Pinchers, Johnny Osbourne, Little John,Peter Metro, Brigadier Jerry plus many more. During His high school years he studied reggae music and hip-hop history he decided to go to college to study music business & graphics design. During his time in college a friend introduced him to FL Studio a DAW for music production and he mastered it and it all took off from there. He studied at SAENYC where he also learned how to mix and master, after college he worked as an audio engineer and electronic music producer instructor inturn at CCM & Studio 202 in Florida. In 2018 he professionally released a few of his hip-hop instrumentals like “Ghetto Rock Instrumental” “Winter Holiday” & “Drippin' Wit Swagga”. In 2021 he released his first Instrumental beats album called "DJ Rickey Ricardo Presents 5 Northen Vs. 5 Southern Healthy Beatz 4 Ya Mind N' Soul which all can be found on all streaming platforms.
